A young woman ends up in a New York City hospital and her guardian angel is feared to have been abducted. Ikart, a spirit realm journalist for the Earth Times, is tasked to investigate. Ikart discovers an evil shaman, a Master Controller of Universe #169, wants to destroy Gwen, the young woman in the hospital. He also learns the Clan, a group of shaman, have protected Gwen for most of her life.  When Ikart uncovers the members of the Clan, he inadvertently leads the Master Controller to them.  A battle between the Clan, various rogue warriors, and the evil Master Controller ensues; the survival of the Universe is in peril.
