Angel: A class of spirits created by Jehovah to serve him. Some spirits chose to be like him, and God became upset. He cursed those spirits and called them demons, but they had the same resemblance as the angels. In Shattered Mirrors, some of the small cursed angels called imps teach the carbonites how to increase their spiritual powers and become shamans or controllers; controllers may become Master Controllers with access to greater powers through sex. Tom, Henry, Lindsey, Victoria, Lakita, and Nikki are examples of such controllers.

Haleakala: Haleakala, or the East Maui Volcano, is a massive, active shield volcano that forms more than 75% of the Hawaiian Island of Maui.

Imp: a small mischievous and mostly malevolent spirit.

Incubus: sex between spirits. It is said that Lilu disturbs and seduces women in their sleep, while Lilitu, a female demon, appears to men in their erotic dreams.

Kafkaesque: Kafkaesque situations are bizarre and impersonal situations in which the individual feels powerless to understand or control what is happening. The term is derived from the work of Franz Kafka, whose novels are characterized by nightmarish settings in which characters are crushed by nonsensical, blind authority. Kafkaesque situations are often described as extremely unpleasant, frightening, and confusing.

Ikart is trapped in a bewildering bureaucratic system. He is trapped in his role as a premier angel. All creatures of god are driven to reproduce, but angels must repress this desire. This repression and act to breed are invisible forces.

nephilim: The Book of Enoch suggests that the nephilim were the result of sexual relations between the “sons of God” and the “daughters of men.”

New Berkeley University: Located in Serenity, Arizona, a city established after earthquakes and shifting tectonic plates caused much of the US and Mexico’s West Coast to enter the Pacific Ocean. The Council of Ancients became the government and provided directives to repopulate the earth.

Nymphs: a female nature-spirit that feeds on ambrosia. There are 3 types of Nymphs:

  1. Naiads: inhabitants of rivers, lakes, springs, and fountains
  2. Oread: inhabitants in the mountains where there were springs.
  3. Dryads: inhabitants of the forests and lonely trees.

Pixie: human infant-size, mischievous, but not malevolent supernatural beings that live in forests and enchanted landscapes. They sometimes prank humans for attention. Pixies have silvery, moth-like wings and prefer to wear brightly colored clothing.

Puu Kukui: Puu Kukui is a volcanic peak in Maui County, western Maui island, Hawaii, U.S. It is the highest peak of Mauna Kahalawai. It rises above the Puʻu Kukui Watershed Management Area. The peak was formed by a volcano whose caldera eroded into the Iao Valley. (Source: Britannica – Online)

Sprites: an insect-size fairy, sometimes mischievous but loving and benevolent supernatural beings that live near water.
